IRA FAQ

A Traditional IRA is a retirement savings account that allows you to contribute money that may be tax-deductible and grow tax-deferred until you withdraw it in retirement.

Traditional IRAs may reduce your current taxable income through deductible contributions, and your earnings grow tax-deferred until distributions begin.

You may be able to deduct all or part of your contribution depending on your income, tax filing status, and whether you or your spouse are covered by an employer-sponsored retirement plan.

Anyone with earned income can contribute. Married couples filing jointly may qualify using either spouse’s earned income.

For 2026, you can contribute up to $7,500 if you are under age 50, or $8,600 if you are age 50 or older, subject to IRS rules.
