Two Glendale Unified Schools District teachers started Glendale Area Schools Credit Union in 1937. Since then, we continue to support the needs of our local schools and to our local community. We support our school relationships in many ways to ensure the financial needs of School Employees, PTA, Students and all who are affiliated within our membership.
Financial needs vary, but at Glendale Area Schools Credit Union they are served by a single commitment: Services are offered to benefit the members, not to generate profit for the Credit Union. This singular commitment is the foundation of the Credit Union’s success… and your guarantee that Glendale Area Schools Credit Union is a reliable financial resource for you and your family members.
Glendale Area Schools Credit Union offers a full range of convenient financial services, just like a bank… but that’s where the similarity ends.
Unlike banks, which are owned by stockholders, the Credit Union is cooperatively owned by its members. So while banks operate to generate profits, the Credit Union operates to serve the interests of its member-owners. That means you!
At Glendale Area Schools Credit Union, you’ll find warm, friendly service, and a professional staff that genuinely cares about your needs. After all, it’s YOUR Credit Union… It’s where you belong.
Because we’re a cooperative, our focus is on people, not profit. That means that when you bank with us, you become a Member and an owner with a voice in what we do and how we do it. Profits are returned to you in the form of free or low-fee services, competitive loan rates, and savings yields. In fact, according to the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), turning to Glendale Area Schools Credit Union as your trusted source for reliable financial services has big monetary rewards.
Membership
In Credit Unions we offer a Membership. By establishing Membership in Glendale Area Schools Credit Union, you become part owner of the credit union. The credit union is owned entirely by our Members. What this means is that you contribute toward shaping the future of the credit union.
Membership is available to anyone in the Glendale Area Community. While we were started by two GUSD employees in 1937, and we strongly support our local schools, we now offer membership to anyone in the Glendale Area Community. Additionally, this includes: employees, students and their parents of public, private and parochial schools within the greater Glendale Unified School District and La Cañada Unified School District. Your association with the community colleges and universities also qualifies you for membership.
One Vote
Your Membership entitles you to one vote that elects our volunteer Board of Directors. This means that all Members have an equal voice in the credit union.
